The opening lines of the book state:
There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not "harder" or "bigger" than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal.
As a student of the Course for many years, I've gained a lot of help, perspective and understanding from this spiritually transformative and healing text. Just like its opening statement, the entire book contains radical concepts and requires the willingness to forget all that you have been trained to think from childhood. Many of the teachings go beyond the rational mind, common sense and logic. Many of the teachings seem counter-intuitive and go against the established and dominant mode of thought and belief. While that may sound crazy to some (and it was to me when I first started), I've learned that if you read the teachings and do the exercises with a totally nonjudgmental mind, progress occurs slowly but surely just due to your commitment and receptivity. There is no requirement other than an open heart to start studying A Course in Miracles. The risk is that you will lose traditional thought patterns and behaviours that make you feel safe but are actually holding you back and no longer serving your highest purpose. The reward is more inner peace, love, forgiveness, joy and serenity. Genuinely possessing these qualities is a rarity in today's highly stressful world but then again so is having the willingness to take the road less traveled. As Wayne Dyer says, its never crowded along the extra mile!
If you enjoy good fellowship and thought provoking discussion, I would love for you to join us. I think that discussing the significance and practical applications of topics with like-minded people is a great way to enhance one's appreciation and deepen one's understanding of the inspiration found within this book. Meetings generally consist of discussion questions for a specific section and then applications of that passage to our lives and current events. Some meetings are more exclusively focused on a recurring theme within the Course including but not limited to love, forgiveness, gentleness and faithfulness. The group meets once a month, specific days and times are decided upon by members monthly availability. If you are interested in joining my group in Mississauga, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
If you don't live in Mississauga, but are interested in joining an ACIM group, please visit http://www.miraclecenter.org/services/study_groupsfip-index.php to find a study group near you.
I hope to meet with you soon!
