An Overview of 2026 in Astronumerology

Picture
Happy New Year! I hope the first few days of the year have been good for you. As the full moon today (January 3rd) falls exactly on my Mercury-Mars conjunction at 13 degrees Cancer and I feel in the mood to write, I wanted to start this year with a longer article outlining my thoughts on what 2026 may bring our way.  2026 is full of new beginnings on a world scale, with many indications that this is a year of new starts. First, 2026 is a world year number 1 in numerology meaning that the world is about to start a fresh 9 year cycle with new beginnings that will gradually develop and unfold over the next 9 months. In addition, Uranus will settle into Gemini  which will last about 7 and a half to 8 years and Neptune will only next change signs on May 31 2038. Second, we have the rare Saturn-Neptune conjunction which is exact on February 20th at 0 degrees Aries. This is the first degree of the zodiac and representative of a huge reset as this combination will influence everyone in whichever house it falls in and even more so if you have a planet, node or angle from 28-29 degrees of the mutable signs to 0-2 degrees of the cardinal signs. If your point is exactly at 0 degrees Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn (the cardinal signs) this will be felt very intensely. It is  neither inherently good or bad but its effects depend on the karmic potentials in your chart. As of the time I write this, it was announced that Donald Trump kidnapped the Venezuelan president and his wife, and stated he will take over the running of Venezuela if only temporarily. This action by a U.S. president in modern times is unprecedented as a democratic country in North America. I wouldn’t be surprised if other countries note this example (China and Taiwan for instance) and feel free to invade smaller, less equipped countries in the future thinking there is a high probability of becoming more powerful and wealthy. I hope it doesn't influence us as much on a micro level as it would be tragedy to see a theme of more people bullying and abusing those less powerful than themselves in the pursuit of riches and power or just because they can. If karma was better understood by people, it would be known at a deep level that abusing others leads to being the victim of abuse later in life or perhaps in future lives and we always reap what we sow.

Inequality and the power imbalance I believe will become more heightened in the next 9 year cycle. It has become more apparent the widening gap between the general public and the elite over the years since the pandemic ended but especially over the last year where I see stories daily in one form or another on this topic: Canada's top CEOs earn 248 times more than the average worker: report

Younger workers are finding it more difficult than any previous generation to reach adult milestones such as buying a home and are delaying having children due to lack of income. Multigenerational households are on the rise even in cultures where it has historically not been the norm. With AI now threatening many industries, and the instability of the U.S. tariffs worldwide and the effects they have already generated, people are getting more anxious about their financial futures. Workers are now more likely to go on extended strikes when they feel working conditions are unfair and in the case of the Canadian airline workers who began a strike this year, they persisted even when ordered to go back to work. I hope this example inspires other unions to persist because when workers who do honest work feel demoralized we all lose as a society.

Another major concern I feel will be heightened in the new cycle is the influence of social media on our attention and the unbelievably vast amounts of money that are being spent to ensure that our eyes are constantly scrolling these apps. It’s not harmless as the doom scrolling influences the subconscious mind and affects our perceptions, opinions and worldview without us even realizing how and why. It increases the tendency to compare and contrast with how other people live their lives (most cases the version of a life they want to portray) with our own life. The younger generations are being systematically drawn online rather than being encouraged to put effort into developing close relationships and engage in productive activities in the real world. I’ve noticed increasingly that influencers are divulging very personal details about their lives, possibly in an attempt to increase likes, comments and a social media following with not enough attention as to how that may affect their mental health or that of their family when they inevitably read the rude and invasive comments from people who are watching. Another issue being that influencers frame their own opinions and experiences as the preferred or empowered way to do things (for example cutting off family and spending the holidays alone ‘in peace’) when that may influence others to do similar things when it may not be the best option for them.  In my view, society has become more disconnected since we started the pandemic in 2020 and that distance has grown to now and probably will continue to grow if we don’t collectively address how our attention is being pulled online rather than into relationship with others.

Retrograding planets put a pause on the affairs of the nature of the planet, the house its in and the other planets, angles or nodes it aspects. The influence is more internal as you re-think and go over actions that already happened. When a planet goes direct it seems that things can finally start moving again. I always note the says that a planet goes direct or retrograde especially if it conjuncts or closely aspects a point in my natal chart as important events or insights can come at that time. If you keep a journal, I'd suggest noting these dates and writing about what happens that day (or few days around it) so you can become more conscious of how the astrological influences impact you. Here is a list of important dates to keep in mind this year concerning the retrogrades:
Uranus goes direct at 27 degrees 27 mins Taurus on Feb 4
The Saturn-Neptune conjunction is exact by degree on Feb 20, though it’s influence can still be felt from Feb 1- end of April. The critical reset point is at 0 degrees Aries
Mercury retrograde February 25 – March 20 in Pisces
Jupiter goes direct at 15 degrees 5 mins Cancer on March 10
Pluto goes retrograde at 5 degrees 30 mins Aquarius on May 6
Mercury retrograde June 29- July 23 in Cancer
Neptune goes retrograde at 4 degrees 25 mins Aries on July 7
Saturn goes retrograde at 14 degrees 44 mins Aries on July 26
Uranus goes retrograde at 5 degrees 41 mins Gemini on September 10
Venus goes retrograde at 8 degrees 29 mins Scorpio on Oct 3
Pluto turns direct at 3 degrees 4 mins Aquarius on Oct 16
Mercury retrograde October 24 – November 13 in Scorpio
Venus turns direct at 22 degrees 51 mins Libra on Nov 14
Saturn turns direct at 7 degrees 55 mins Aries on Dec 10
Neptune turns direct at 1 degree 36 mins Aries on Dec 12

Eclipses are indicative of major life changes, some expected and some not. Put all together, transits and eclipses give us insight into what themes and trends the person will face at any given point in their life. The more times the planetary theme repeats, the stronger it becomes. It fits with the idea of pre-birth planning where the soul agrees on the contracts it will complete with other souls and what roles they will play with each other (husband-wife, best friends, parent-child, mentor-mentee etc.) and the purpose and life lessons both are to learn in pursuit of balancing out the karma they have with each other. Souls often which switch roles from life to life but the karmic purpose remains similar until balanced out. The synastry and composite chart give more insight as to the nature of the karma between 2 people, along with levels of compatibility, areas of strengths, weaknesses and special focus. The pre-birth contract also indicates the length of the relationship and when they will meet and leave each other’s lives. For more information on this topic, you may wish to read about near death experiences and the life review (Life After life, Raymond Moody; After: A Doctor Explores What Near-death Experiences Reveal About Life And Beyond and pre-birth planning (Between Death and Life, Dolores Cannon; Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, Michael Newton). Here is a list of eclipses for 2026:
Solar eclipse at 28 degrees 50 minutes Aquarius on February 17
Total Lunar eclipse at 12 degrees 54 minutes Virgo on March 3
Total Solar eclipse at 20 degrees 2 minutes Leo on August 12
Lunar eclipse at 4 degrees 54 mins Pisces on August 28

Take the chart of Nicole Kidman; she and her husband of 19 years, Keith Urban, separated in 2025 with Nicole filing for divorce on September 30th 2025.  I am including her Western and Vedic astrological charts for review:

To give an example of how one can examine the energies they have operating in a year, we can look at the major event of divorce in a celebrity case. In September 2025 there were 2 eclipses, Sept 7th at 15 degrees 23 mins Pisces and Sept 21st at 29 degrees 5 mins virgo.  In March 2025 there were 2 eclipses, March 14 at 23 degrees 57 mins virgo and March 29 at 9 degrees 0 mins Aries. Nicole’s 7th house indicators (7th house is marriage, divorce, and long term-relationships as well as legal contracts, open enemies and legal matters) are 6 degrees taurus (descendant), 14 degrees leo (venus, the ruler of the 7th house) and the sun at 29 degrees gemini, the sun being the dispositor of the 7th house. There are no planets in the house and it extends from 6 degrees taurus to 5 degrees gemini.  The eclipse on Sept 21st made an exact square to her sun. The eclipse on sept 7th made a 1 degree quincunx to her venus. The eclipse March 14 made a 5 degree eclipse to her sun. The eclipse on March 29 fell exact on her 6th house cusp (day to day life) and 2 degrees from her Saturn (heaviness, karmic debt, obstacles, challenging circumstances).  The eclipse Sept 17 2024 at 25 degrees 41 mins Pisces also made a 4 degree square to her sun. We don’t have Keith’s birth time so we can’t determine the 7th house factors but he does have mercury and venus at 15-16 degrees virgo respectively and Uranus at 27 degrees virgo so these planets were all impacted by the eclipses.

Nicole’s Pluto and Uranus are at 18 and 20 degrees of virgo respectively and rule the 1st and 4th houses respectively. So these planets and the houses they rule were influenced by the virgo-pisces eclipses that started in September 2024 and end this year.  The 4th is your physical home, and they are now not living together. The 1st house is your personal identity in a public sense, how you are seen by people and the lens you look at the world, which are definitely changing as a result of this divorce.

Generally eclipses manifest the year leading up to it and the year following it, though some eclipses can be activated by transits at later dates.

Nicole has the nodes closely conjunct her ascendant- descendant axis. I have observed that when this happens, the person’s close relationships have a very high degree of karma to work out (their pre-life contract included what we would think of as especially strenuous terms either physically, emotionally or mentally or maybe a combination). They also have the hand of fate operating much more strongly than the average relationship where there is less free will. They married on June 25th 2026 when the nodes were at 29 degrees virgo and pisces and Nicole filed for divorce on Sept 30th 2025 when the transiting nodes were just 1 degree away from that point at 17 degrees virgo and pisces and there was an eclipse at 29 degrees virgo just 9 days earlier. Apparently, they began living apart at the start of summer 2025 and one can assume that when the nodes hit 29 degrees virgo and 29 degrees pisces in the winter of 2025, the idea of separation became clearer in both people’s minds. I remember reading that Keith wasn’t happy with Nicole’s movie ‘Baby Girl’ which was released in December 2024 due to the nature of the character she was playing, and there were rumours circulating of an affair he was having with another woman. Nicole Kidman Celebrates New Year Amid Keith Urban Divorce

In the secondary progressed chart, Nicole has 23 degrees Gemini and Sagittarius on the ascendant and descendant and these mutable degrees are closely squared by the degrees of the virgo-pisces eclipses in 2024-2025. Her progressed venus at 12 degrees virgo is being eclipsed to the exact degree with the total lunar eclipse on March 3 2026. I include seconday progressions as an additional timing tool but its not a main directional focus in predictive work and used to see where themes may be repeating from the transits and eclipses.

Uranus is retrograding through her 7th house, as Uranus had begun its retrograde on Sept 6 2025 at 1 degree 27 mins gemini and only goes direct this February. Given that retrograding planets turn the planet' s energy inwards, it feels more psychologically intense than usual. People have reported that they think about events in the past, conversations, their own behaviour and that of others with more of a detailed lens. It is replaying things in your mind and trying to analyze them in different ways. Perhaps what happened for Nicole is that the month of September, in the weeks after Sept 6 leading up to the 30th, the dissatisfaction internally with the problems that built up for so long, felt like they couldn't be tolerated any longer.

During the time the divorce was filed on Sept 30th, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were all retrograde so the introspective, analytical tendency to replay events was in the collective. It would have influenced everyone to differing degrees to mentally go over things and perhaps see them in a light which compelled the changes that September would already bring being the month of 2 eclipses. Moreover, the degree Neptune went direct at was 29 degrees 22 mins Pisces which was already sensitized being the exact opposite degree of the Sept 21 eclipse at 29 degrees Virgo (and recall these were the nodal degree positions in their marriage chart). One way to look at it was that Neptune's fogginess was lifted and the reality could be seen more clearly as to the foundational problems in the marriage which could not be rectified despite their efforts. Nicole's Chiron is also at 29 degrees Pisces, and since Chiron is the wounded healer it could have become more apparent to her the deeper wounds she felt within the marriage that became too much to tolerate any longer. Saturn during its retrograde from July to November 2025, crossed back over the 29th degree of Pisces finally ending its retrograde at 25 degrees Pisces on November 28 2025 (also a sensitized degree as it was the exact degree of the eclipse on Sept 17 2024 and for people with planets, angles and nodes from 20-29 degrees of the mutable signs, the week around Nov 28 2025 would have been an important date). Saturn will go direct over 29 degrees pisces in Feb 2026 so the chiron energy for her is still being felt more intensely now during the grieving of the relationship's end.  Even though she knows that ultimately it is the best decision to heal herself and continue her life journey in a more self realized way. Chiron gives us wounds because people who go through these lived experiences are in the best position to help others also going through the same thing. Chiron's intent is to develop empathy and compassion by first going through the fire and then emerging a stronger, wiser version of yourself, one who is better suited to really empathize with others.

Looking at the transits on September 30th 2025 we find that transiting Saturn was at 27 degrees Pisces which squared her sun. Saturn in hard aspect to the sun makes you more self-critical, critical of other people, more aware of what is going wrong in your life and generally can lower your self-esteem as you can frequently be at major odds with people in your life. Saturn influencing the 7th house pushes the criticism onto your spouse/ partner. It makes it more likely you see what is wrong with them than what is right with them. Neptune also squared her sun at 0 degrees Aries and this where it is probably that the disillusionment came in and who I thought was my partner is not the person they really are. Neptune sees through a lens that is not clear and frequently based on a skewed/ idealistic version of reality. When Neptune makes a hard aspect to your personal planet, angle or node it can feel like the rose colored glasses come off in that area. It can also cause a hard time emotionally as you realize the version of someone or an event that happened is not what you believed it to be.

Transiting Mars made an exact opposition to her descendant, mars being the god of war can bring aggression and fighting where it impacts and to her descendant it is fitting of a divorce. Transiting venus at 14 degrees virgo makes an exact semisextile to her venus and also is sensitized being the exact opposite degree of the sept 7th eclipse. Transiting pluto at 1 degree aquarius squaring the ascendant- descendant axis can bring power and control struggles into the relationship, very intense and extreme emotions, heated arguments and a difficulty finding harmonious compromises. Her secondary progressed pluto made a 1 degree conjunction to the secondary progressed descendant which heightens pluto’s influence to the 7th house. Transiting Uranus at 1 degree gemini would have been in her 7th house and Uranus brings a major unexpected event to the house at some point during its stay there. Uranus doesn’t necessarily mean a breakup but if it transits in the 7th house it will bring the unexpected to your relationship, maybe in the form of something happening to you as a couple or something unexpected happening to one person that affects the relationship dynamic.

The composite chart is provided here but the houses are not accurate as we don't have Keith's birth time. The planets are in their accurate positions. We can see that 5 of the planets are in Virgo (Sun (0 degrees) Venus (0 degrees) Mercury (18 degrees) Pluto (19 degrees) and Uranus (23 degrees)) so when the eclipses come onto the Virgo/ Pisces axis there will always be significant change in a short period of time. Given that the orb is about 5 degrees maximum on either side of the eclipse degree, the eclipses in March 2025, September 2025 and September 2024 impacted at least one of the planets (Mercury, Pluto, and/or Uranus). The eclipse on August 28 2026 at 4 degrees 54 mins Pisces and the eclipse on February 20 2027 at 2 degrees 6 mins Virgo will both impact their Sun/Venus conjunction. Their Jupiter is at 18 degrees Leo so will be impacted by the August 12 2026 eclipse and February 6 2027 eclipses. The eclipse March 29 2025 was exact to the degree on their Saturn. So we can see in three years, six of their planets are closely impacted by the eclipses, many of which were very close to the exact degree of the eclipse. This period 2025-2027 could have definitely been pointed out in advance to the couple as one to keep an eye out for.  Nevertheless their divorce was finalized amicably in early January 2026 with both parties agreeing on the terms and avoiding a court battle, which is a testament to the underlying respect and deep love they had for each other.

I find stelliums both personally and in composite to be difficult psychologically in predictive work because when you get a hard transit such as malefic planet making a hard aspect it can take several years to move out of the energy. It's not so bad with 3 planets but if you have 4 or more planets in the stellium it starts to get exponentially more difficult. This is because every planet rules at least 1 house, some rule 2. When an eclipse or transit influences a planet, they also influence the house its in, the house it rules, the other planets it might be dispositor of and triggers natal aspects to that planet. If people are not careful some degree of learned helplessness can occur especially if you have other difficult predictive influences on your charts at the same time. Adversity is many times useful for spiritual and personal growth but at times it is so overwhelming that it is hard to keep a positive outlook. Also, stelliums focus their energy intensely on one area of life such that the person (or couple) can lack a natural sense of balance and proportion because of the intensity of one sign's energy.

The composite chart could have an entire article to itself but as a quick impression I can see that there is a lot of hard aspects to their Mars. It squares the Sun and Venus, makes a close sesquiquadrate to Saturn (a very difficult aspect to have as they are both malefics and its a hard aspect), sextiles Uranus and closely conjuncts Neptune. Mars is the god of war and when in so many difficult aspects it is bound to provoke fighting. It's good to have boundaries and be assertive but Mars can easily get into highly aggressive energy where you argue to dominate and get your way instead of to understand and find compromise. Mercury's conjunctions to Uranus and Pluto can have their good points too, but the challenging components are that the Uranus conjunction likes to say shocking things to get a reaction and the Pluto conjunction can make one overly suspicious and read too much into comments made when not warranted. Saturn is not happy in its fall sign of Aries, where it is weakest and not able to express its natural energy. Therefore it becomes more malefic in its expression. Saturn also opposes the Moon which gives a difficulty in being vulnerable and in sharing deeper emotions due to fear of judgement or emotions seen as a sign of weakness. There is a level of guardedness that is hard to reduce without serious work on it. In Vedic astrology the Moon symbolizes the mind and happiness and when Saturn gets so close it is a dampening effect on the mood which tends to be more serious and reserved.

Personal years are calculated by adding the month and day of your birth to the current year. Nicole is currently in a number 8 year for 2026, this is the year her divorce will finalize and she will end a cycle. (Her birthday is June 20, 6 plus 2 plus 9 for 2025). I find that the transition between personal years 9 and 1 is the most notable in terms of new chapters in someone’s life. Keith ran a number 9 personal year in 2025 (His birthday Oct 26 is 10 plus 8 plus 9 for 2025). Many times the new energy can make its way into the 9 year so it doesn’t necessarily have to wait till the 9 year. Each planet relates to a number 1-9 and the personal year number activates the corresponding  planet’s energy. So, for example, going through a personal year number 8 will activate the nature of Saturn and also what Saturn represents in your chart. This was the case for Nicole in 2025 where there was also an eclipse falling 2 degrees from her Saturn. Saturn can make you more attuned to what you are not very happy about within yourself or with others in your life. On the positive, it can help you determine whether long standing structures in your life are working or not and if they are not working you can move to end what is limiting you. A positive use of Saturn is to use its energy to set more secure foundations on which to build your life. Sometimes you prolong something that clearly isn’t working for fear of change or perceived lack of alternatives when you know deep down it won’t help you in the long term and may even damage you.

In the Vedic system, we use dashas to see which planets take center stage and bring up what they symbolize in the chart at any given time. Changing a mahadasha is a major new chapter in your life history and the difference in energy will immediately be felt. Nicole was at the tail end of her venus mahadasha  when she married Keith in June 2006, venus was the last 20 years. Then in October 2006 she entered the 6 year sun dasha showing the shift in energy with her marriage. She married Keith on June 25th 2006 which was in her Venus-Ketu-Saturn phase. Venus is the maha dasha, Ketu is the sub dasha and sometimes to narrow down dates we can use the third level dasha which in this case is Saturn. In the vast majority of cases, these planets are connected to the 7th house in the navamsha (spouse chart) when you marry. Nicole’s chart follows this rule as we can see Venus conjunct Ketu opposing the 7th house from the 1st house. Saturn is in the nakshatra ruled by ketu which is moola. We note the same was true on December 24th 1990 when she married Tom Cruise. She ran Venus-Sun-Venus. Venus is in the 1st house of the navamsha chart opposing the 7th house and Venus is in the Sun’s nakshatra Uttarashada. There is a trend now of couples living common law or having children without being married. In these cases, when one runs the planets connected with the 7th house it can indicate some symbol of deepening the relationship such as moving in together, buying a house together or having a child together. Of course, the 7th house representing other things, running planets connected to your 7th house can bring these themes into focus rather than the focus being on a relationship (if you aren’t in one).

Currently, she is in the Mars dasha and the sub dasha is Saturn. When you run the period of 2 malefic planets, it is bound to be difficult even if these 2 planets are well-placed in your chart. This is because the nature of the planet will always make its influence felt so there is no way to avoid it. It started in March 2025 and will end April 2026. Fortunately, running either Saturn-Mars or Mars-Saturn only lasts 1-2 years each and not everyone will experience both these periods as it depends on what planet’s dasha you were born into. Other tough periods include Mars-Mars and Saturn-Saturn and sometimes include the nodes but the nodes are not as tough as Mars and Saturn generally unless they are not well placed in your chart as well.
I hope this example is helpful for you to understand how we interpret predictive astrology and that its not so much about predicting events but rather understanding how planetary themes bring distinct energies into our lives in line with what they represent in our chart, the nature of that planet along with the nature of the transiting planet’s aspect to our charts.
I am wishing you much success, joy, love and peace for a prosperous 2026 and beyond!

Thank you to all of my clients, students and readers for growing with me and allowing me the honour of reading your chart and teaching you my heartfelt passion, the study of Astronumerology. This will be my 19th year in practice, incidentally a full nodal cycle just like the marriage of Keith and Nicole. I hope to see you for a reading soon:)
