Astronumerology and Psychic Ability

Genuine psychic ability is rare and consequently psychics tend to be private as they are highly sensitive to the energy of people and places. Psychic ability is a natural gift; it is not a system to be studied and learned like astrology. Psychics make predictions primarily based on visions. Astrologers make predictions based on the mathematical motion of the planets and their interaction with a person’s natal chart. Astrologers need to develop their skills through books, research and experience. There is no astrological signature in a natal chart revealing the person to have astrological talent. The more time you spend studying astrology, the better you will become, in contrast, psychic ability does not need to be developed.

Malcolm Bessent

Malcolm Bessent is a highly gifted psychic and his talents have been proven under scientifically vigorous conditions. In one study he was asked to dream about what would happen to him the following day. He wrote down his dream in detail and the next day researchers presented pictures to him. The vast majority of the time there was a high correspondence between the two, he accurately dreamed about what happened to him the next day (1). In another study Malcolm’s dreams were recorded and people attending a Grateful Dead concert in New York were asked to telepathically send six art prints to him, he would try to dream about them. Independent judges rated the similarity between the transcribed dreams and the art prints. The results showed that telepathy was operating, the highest score possible was given 4/6 times, there is only 12/100 chances that this was coincidental (2).

The vertex is a point of fate, planets closely aspecting it have an important role in the nature of our destiny. In his chart, Neptune is exactly (0 degrees, 0 min!) semisextile the vertex. Neptune is the planet of psychics, dreams, ESP, premonitions, visions and all things otherworldly. Neptune making close aspects to the vertex are often found in truly gifted psychics.

Venus is in Capricorn in the 12th house. Venus is at critical degree 13 Capricorn. Venus is at the midpoint of the 12th house. The 12th house is the natural house of Neptune and Pisces. It is the house where the boundaries between what is “real” and “unreal” fade. Dreams and visions occur with startling clarity and accurately foretell the coming events. What happens in this house is very hard for most people to understand because it escapes the rational thought processes and seems impossible. In fact, very few people have the amount of faith and openness to truly access the powers of this house. However, if you experience it yourself there will not be a shadow of a doubt as to the “realness” of it. Venus being at a critical degree and the midpoint give it strength, sensitivity and significance. When the outer planets transits aspect Venus, it tends to cause more noticeable experiences. Venus is sextile the MC 1 degree and this shows that the 12th house activities are directly related to his career and public reputation.

Mercury is in Capricorn in the 12th house. Mercury is conjunct the Asc by 2 degrees. Mercury in this unique position adds strength in accessing the depth of knowledge of the 12th house and at the same time being a highly effective communicator of that knowledge and those experiences. Mercury being in Capricorn gives a no fluff type approach; speech is concise, to the point and practical. This is a very nice complement to the gentleness, poetic tone and tact of Mercury in the 12th house. Mercury is quintile MC exact, showing that 12th house matters are directly related to his career and public reputation.

Planets are termed unaspected when they make no major aspects (conjunction, opposition, sextile, trine or square). Mercury is unaspected and Venus is unaspected. When a planet is unaspected the energy is pure and can be powerfully single tracked as it is not colored by the other planets energy. Achievements can be of the extraordinary in the house in which it is found due to the tremendous powers of concentration. Certainly, Malcolm had to train his mind in singularity of purpose to access the dormant psychic power and visionary potential of the 12th house.

Uranus is at critical degree 4 Gemini in the 4th house. Neptune is in Libra in the 8th house. Chiron is in Virgo in the 8th house. The water houses four and eight are to a secondary degree linked with psychic talent because of the considerable intuitive power they have. The 4th house represents a person’s deeper mind and the subconscious, accessing the part of the subconscious. Planets here can describe some of the childhood experiences we have that we may not remember but nonetheless are directly linked to adult behaviour, especially our unique habits and pet peeves. The 8th house and Pluto represent esoteric and occult information This knowledge takes a special type of preparation to access. This type of knowledge can have a transformative effect. This is where people do the inner work that leads to breakthroughs in consciousness. Pluto (governing planet of the 8th house) is out of bounds at 23 degrees 51 min, strengthening the fact that transformation, rebirth, unusual power and access to secret knowledge are dominant themes.  Neptune is the planet primarily connected to psychic power. Neptune makes five aspects to the planets and a sextile to the North Node. When a planet makes five or more aspects it is very well integrated into a person’s psyche and its traits are visible. The nodal connection shows that Neptune’s traits are integral to Malcolm’s future growth, his purpose in this life. Neptune is square MC by 8 degrees. This is linking Neptune and the 8th house with his career and public reputation. The wisdom through experience and healing power of Chiron is also connected with his MC by a 2 degree sextile.

The moon and Pluto are closely conjunct the North Node in the 7th house in Leo. The sign of Leo is intercepted in the 7th house. The interception makes this conjunction more inwardly turned and more powerful in the person’s skill set. The N. Node- Moon-Pluto conjunction gives great imagination, powerful “raw” emotions, sensitivity to psychic phenomena and the self- discipline needed to cultivate these talents. When it is in the 7th house, these skills will be used in one on one relationships and through his private consultations he has helped numerous people. Malcolm is a popular person; a benefit of this conjunction as the moon governs likeability by the public. The Pluto influence in this conjunction adds strength, passion, tenacity, a deep seated interest in the true meaning of life and a very intuitive mind, especially as it relates to human nature. The Leo influence adds the grace needed to perform eloquently and the appreciation of being adored by the public.
Midpoints are points of added significance and strength of a house. When a planet, asteroids or other midpoint is conjunct this point it gains more prominence in the matters of the house. Midpoints of individual planets and other points of interest symbolize the blending of those two energies.

Moon/MC midpoint is 1 degree of the midpoint of the 8th house. This signifies that his intuition, gut reactions and instincts would play a major role in his public standing and with it being connected to the 8th house this ability is given an occult flavour.

Sun/Vertex midpoint is 1 degree of the midpoint of the 10th house. This points to the fame and honors he was destined to receive in his career.

Venus/Neptune midpoint is 1 degree of the midpoint of the 10th house. Venus is in the 12th house and Neptune is in the 8th house. These two planets joined in the tenth house symbolize the psychic and occult nature of his career.

The combination of 1-9-8 is a special influence as it is often found in highly influential people who have acquired a high degree of worldly power and status. All three of these numbers have good leadership ability and are frequently found in positions of leadership. Malcolm possesses this combination.

Malcolm has a life path of 1. This will give him the ability to be a pioneer in his field and to be recognized for his efforts. He will be independent, innovative, eager and enthusiastic. Number 1 people like to take the road less travelled and for this reason they are often the first to discover new things and make advances in society’s understanding of new phenomena.

His personality number is also 1, this number reflects how you appear to others on first impression. People are likely to first notice Malcolm sticking out from the crowd, living up to his own expectations and not those of others. He likely has a good amount of leadership capability.

Malcolm was born on the 8th of the month. This is an excellent complement to the dreamy, creative and poetic nature shown in his astrological portrait. People born on the 8th are practical, hardworking, realistic and business minded. Their mind is efficient and they don’t mince words, preferring to get straight to the point. The number 8 also adds in a good business sense and an appreciation of luxurious things.

Malcolm’s soul urge number is 8 too and this strengthens these characteristics. The soul urge tells us what a person needs in life to be happy, to feel secure and comfortable, it is a more personal number. With 8 as the soul urge, Malcolm will be passionate about his work and use his business acumen to continue to expand his influence. He will not shy away from obstacles, on the contrary he will work until he has achieved his high ambitions and has gotten the comfortable lifestyle that is very important to him.

His expression is 9. People with this expression will find success through humanitarian service and teaching, regardless of whether this is part of their career. It is important to them to share the knowledge and skills they receive, especially with younger people. They also like to help those less fortunate and are compassionate by nature. They are fair and want to treat people with respect and dignity. They recognize what people are most talented at and put them in positions that make use of those talents. There is the capacity for inspirational leadership, and they are more than happy to lead by example rather than by dictation. Number 9 people tend to be broad minded and tolerant, they value people’s cultural differences and try to understand as much as they can about different ways of living worldwide.

Victor Hugo

Victor Hugo is famously known as a key figure in the French Romantic Movement and as the author of Les Misérables and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. He was a poet, writer, playwright and dramatist. However not as many people know that we was a highly gifted psychic, conducting hundreds of séances on his exile. These conversations were transcribed and published as “Victor Hugo's Conversations with the Spirit World: A Literary Genius's Hidden Life” (3).

Victor has Sun, Pluto, Venus, Mercury and the North Node in the most psychic sign Pisces. Piscean people are creative, gentle, dreamy, poetic, visionary, artistic, sensitive, compassionate, sympathetic and impressionable. They often have dreams that are highly detailed and foretell future events, although only the ones who do active dream work are likely to realize this. Their personal boundaries are very low and they can “feel” other people’s emotions very well. They are like sponges, picking up the atmosphere everywhere they go.

He has a Scorpio ascendant, Scorpio is a water sign and therefore possesses a great deal of intuitive ability, sensitivity and and psychic potential. He has Neptune in his first house and it is at critical degree 21 Scorpio. The
Neptunian personality is very similar to Pisces, when people first meet Victor they are likely to think of him as dreamy, otherworldly, psychic, creative and visionary. A lot of emotion is conveyed non-verbally but nonetheless is very strong. The saying “still waters run deep” are very applicable here. The gifts of the 12th house are especially visible in his appearance as the 12th house ruler Venus is in Pisces makes an exact trine to the ascendant.

Neptune makes an exact trine (0 degrees, 0 minutes!) to the North Node. When you have a trine there is a natural gift that you are born with. The North Node is showing us which direction we need to take and which traits we should focus on to fulfill our life purpose. This is a strong indication that the visionary, psychic aspect of Neptune is being used to fulfill his purpose: he connected with many people through séances and conveyed very important information to the other side. He created more than 4000 drawings (4), was also a famous poet and writer.

His moon (connection with intuition, feelings, and emotions) is extremely out of bounds at 28 degrees, 37 minutes; his ability in this area is highly unusual but is a gift. People with OOB Moon have an extraordinary range of emotions and they feel their emotions at a very raw level. Their habits and emotional expression in certain situations may seem somewhat odd to others but they have a very unique way of reacting to events that best helps them cope with the event. The Moon is also square the North Node indicating that his gut feelings and intuition play a very strong role in fulfilling his destiny.

Another point of interest is that Jupiter is conjunct the benevolent fixed star Regulus at 29 Leo, is in the 10th house and the shape of his chart is a locomotive with lead planet Jupiter.  Jupiter represents law, justice, equality, fairness, and philosophy among other things. His academic training was fittingly as a lawyer although he pursued a career in literature. Prominent themes in his major works (Les Misérables, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) are social class injustice and human suffering, he concerned himself a great deal with the plight of the poor and wanted to draw his reader’s attention to this largely ignored issue. He also was involved in politics for a brief time and spoke about these same issues in addition to the death penalty (4). Both of these works earned him worldwide prestige and honours (Regulus) in his career (10th).

Pluto is on the midpoint of Sun/Venus. Sun rules the 10th house (public status), Venus rules 12th house (channeling), and Pluto governs death, again signifying the high profile séances. The conjunction occurs in the 4th house, in addition to being a house of intuition, it is a house representing the subconscious mind and our deeper motivation.

The midpoint of Astraea/MC is exact on the midpoint of the 12th house. Astraea is the goddess of justice and her connection with the MC is a literal connection between Victor’s quest for justice through his career. The 12th house adds in the element of the underdog, the plight of the poor that not too many people seemed to care for at the time. The 12th house also adds the imagination and creative ability needed for his colorful characters and captivating stories.

Neptune makes an exact semisextile to the midpoint of the 12th house and the North Node makes an exact quincunx to the midpoint of the 12th house. Neptune being connected to its own house greatly strengthens the inherent psychic potential of the house. The North Node connection shows that 12th house activities are integral to future growth.

Similar to Malcolm Bessent, Victor Hugo was born on a 8 series birthday (26th). The eight in his nature is easily visible in his interest in law and politics. He was also very interested in social class issues as most 8s are keenly aware of the social hierarchy. The 8 influence gives him the practicality in his literature so that it is very direct in the communication of the plight of the poor.

Victor’s life path number and soul urge number are both 3. The 3 in numerology corresponds to the planet Jupiter and here we see the Jupiter influence magnified through repetition. People who have a prominent three influence tend to be philosophical, concerned with large scale social issues, justice, fairness, and ethics. They are at heart optimistic and are confident that through their efforts they can change things for the better, he was convinced that through his writing he could present a compelling enough argument that touched the hearts of people such that they are inspired to care for people in need. Three is also a creative number that is talented artistically, either through the visual or performing arts. He was also a voracious drawer and turned his books into on stage dramas.

Victor’s expression number is 22/4. Similar to the number 8,  expression 4 people understand the concept of hierarchy and are aware of their own place in it in relation to others.  Number Four people are diligent, practical, persevering, responsible and hardworking. He was also honest and direct in his speech so that people understood what he was saying. I believe that Victor was tapping into the 22 influence as he clearly was a visionary and combined it with hard work, creating numerous artistic works that have widespread influence on people to this day. He was certainly revolutionary in his thinking and far ahead of his time.

Victor’s personality number is 1, similar to Malcolm Bessent. We can see this in the fact that he is a leader in the social movement to improve conditions for the poor. He is very creative and original, preferring to blaze new trails in the quest for justice. He does not accept the status quo and works diligently to bring about much needed change. He sticks out from the crowd and cherishes his independence of thought and action.

Gerard Croiset

Gerard Croiset was a famous Dutch psychic and healer who helped solve crime cases with his psychic powers, often assisting the police in finding perpetrators and victims. He has helped find several missing children as well (5). His abilities were tested by a parapsychologist in the form of a “chair test”- he could predict where people were going to sit several days in advance and even tell them private information about their past and future (6, 7).

Gerard has the Sun and Venus in Pisces. Pisces is the most psychic sign and can “see” things that most other people don’t because of their acute sensitivity to otherworldly sources of knowledge. His hunches were uncannily accurate and highly detailed.

The chart ruler the Sun is placed in Pisces in the 8th house. Venus is also in the 8th house. The 8th house is most connected with occult and esoteric knowledge and power which often has a transformative effect. Venus makes a 7 degree sextile with the MC, linking this with the career. This is also the house of healing ability and Gerard used his ability to heal other people’s wounds. This theme of healing is also seen with Chiron well integrated; it makes five aspects to the planets and a 3 degree trine to the North Node. In particular, it is conjunct Mercury (at critical degree 21 Aquarius) in the seventh house; his words had healing power in one on one relationships and he was able to get his message across clearly and effectively. Chiron makes a 5 degree out of sign sextile to the MC, relating to using his healing ability professionally.

The moon is highlighted as it is angular, making a 3 degree conjunction with the IC and 3 degree opposition to the MC out of sign. The moon in this position shows that he experiences a wide range of emotions and that he feels them deeply. His intuition and sensitivity to people are very high and he is likely to gain popularity due to these traits.

Similar to Malcolm Bessent, Gerard has a Pluto-N. Node conjunction in Gemini which is making a trine to the Moon in Libra. The Moon aspecting this conjunction reinforces the fact that his feelings are profound and also strengthens his ability as a healer and counselor. He understands human nature well and has excellent ability to deal with people in a compassionate manner. He acts as a catalyst for their transformation.

Neptune is well integrated in his natal chart, it makes six aspects to the planets and a 6 degree opposition with the vertex. It also makes a 3 degree conjunction with the 12th house cusp, its own house. Neptune has the power it needs here to have full expression, evident in him through his detailed and accurate dreams, visions, imagination, sensitivity to non- rational sources of knowledge and ESP. These skills are part of his destiny (vertex).

The use of psychic ability in locating missing children can be seen with the close Mars-Vertex conjunction in Capricorn in the 5th house making a quintile to the 12th house ruler Moon. Mars is also slightly OOB at 23d 30 minutes. Mars represents aggression, violence, rage, the murders. However Mars also represents the ambition, motivation and drive Gerard had to lead the police to the children. The vertex involvement shows that this was a part of his destiny, the 12th house represents the “secrets of the hidden” and use of psychic ability and the 5th house represents children.

Jupiter/Pluto makes a conjunction within a degree to the midpoint of the 12th house. The combination of Jupiter and Pluto represents enthusiasm, leadership and healing ability, combined with the psychic gifts of the 12th we see a psychic healer who is a leader in his field.

Gerard was born on the 10th, making his birthday number 1. This manifests in him being a leader in his field and a pioneer in the use of psychic ability for healing people. He was confident and would not let skeptics dissuade him of the fact that he had genuine talent.

Gerard’s life path number is 5. As characteristic of Mercury’s number, he was a skilled communicator, this is also seen with Mercury conjunct the descendant by 5 degrees. He is described as an “animated talker; a man of dramatic gestures, brash and arrogant, yet also impulsively generous” (7). Gerard loved change and in his younger days he had numerous jobs. Even when he got older he was constantly trying new things and loved meeting diverse people.

Gerard’s personality and soul urge number is 8. This influence gives him confidence and authority when stating his thoughts and psychic visions. Number 8 people can be very generous as long as they feel the cause is worthy, he did not charge police for his services and paid his own expenses for travel (7). He did not shy away from hard work and was very diligent in using his abilities to help as many people as he could.

Gerard’s expression number is 7. Number 7 is Neptune’s number and reinforces his visionary talent, his sensitivity to psychic phenomena, imagination and ESP ability. Number 7 is also noted for its deeper interest in philosophy and religion. His religious views were expressed in his statement “My work has to help society. I have a gift from God which I don’t understand. I can’t use it just to make money for myself. If I do, I may lose it” (7).

Summary

Through the analysis of these three charts, there are some common astrological themes of psychic ability evident. First, there is a connection of Neptune with either the vertex or the North Node. Both the Vertex and North Node are points associated with destiny and life purpose. Neptune is the planet most associated with visions and psychic ability indicating that these themes were destined to be part of their life purpose. Second, there is an emphasis on Pisces/ Neptune/ 12th house. These are directly connected with psychic ability, imagination, seclusion, creativity, artistic ability, dreams, visions and ESP. Third, the Moon is aspecting the North Node and additionally strongly placed in all the natal charts giving the ability to feel emotions deeply, have accurate intuition and have a high sensitivity to people and places, these traits help fulfill their life purpose. Fourth, there is always secondary involvement of water houses four and eight, which contribute to esoteric knowledge, intuition, subconscious mind power and depth of emotion.

Although the numbers one and eight appear in all three psychics in this article, it should be noted that there are no specific numbers that have been shown by research to be associated with psychic ability to date. Rather the five core numbers are used in this context to give further details about each man to help us better understand their life story.
