“Follow your inner moonlight; don't hide the madness.” - Allen Ginsberg
The birthday number represents fundamental skills, proclivities and motivation. It is what you have at your disposal naturally and describes your “default” behaviour in your romantic life, relationships with friends and family, career and attitudes toward your health. You will notice the personality traits of this number very active in your conscious behaviour and people will readily associate you with these characteristics.
The birthday number is the day of the month that you were born. To find it, you use the single digit if you were born on the 1st-9th or simply add the double digit. For example if you were born on the 21st, you are a 3 or if you were born on the 13th, you are a 4.
Birthday 1 (1st, 10th, 19th, 28th)
With a birthday on a number one, your inclination is towards independence and leadership. You don’t want to do something because that is how other people do it or it has always been done, you want to look for better ways of doing it and add in your unique style. It reminds me of a story I heard many years ago: For years the famous family pot roast had always been a certain size, it was quite small and limited how much each person could have. One day the adult son decided to find out why the pot roast always had to stay that size. So he inquired to his mother and she responded that was the size her mother made it. He then asked his grandmother why she chose that size and she responded that was the way her mother made it. His great grandmother was 95 years old and he finally asked her why she chose that size. Her response with a smile was that the baking dish she used for the pot roast at that time was that size. From then on, the adult son decided to simply use a bigger dish! It is characteristic of the 1 to look for the reasons behind limitations and then if the reasons are not valid, simply start their own tradition by changing what wasn’t working.
You are an authoritative, free-spirited person and dislike being in support positions, positions requiring one to follow too many orders/ rules, or roles not giving enough recognition. For this reason, many number 1s become self-employed or take their interest and turn it into a small business; you need to feel self-sufficient. There is a need for freedom to explore new ways of doing things. If a project becomes too monotonous, predictable or easy, you will get bored and drop it. Feeling challenged everyday and having enough energy and vitality to keep going past the restrictions is important.
Your mode of operation is through action, you believe that people’s motivations come across more clearly by what they do than what they say and this is true for yourself as well. For this reason, you may not be prone to lengthy conversations and prefer to communicate your intent through tangible action. Although you generally try to be honest in your dealings, at heart you are quite private and only reveal your deeper emotions and thoughts to people you truly trust.
Birthday (2nd, 11th, 20th, 29th)
People born on a 2 day are diplomatic, balanced and genuinely try to consider other people’s needs, oftentimes before their own. They naturally think in terms of relationships and are their happiest as part of a couple or team. Number 2 enjoys collaborating with others, bouncing ideas back and forth. These people gain energy from being with people and may feel lonely if they don’t have company every so often. They are the glue that brings their family and friends together as they consciously spend time calling up people they haven’t seen in a while and maintaining relationships over time and distance.
Number 2 can be sensitive to the feelings of others, partly because they are very sensitive. Remember that your number 2 friend feels things very deeply and even if they don’t show it, they may take offense at your criticism or jokes. Because they are intuitive they can pick up on others moods and feelings so it is quite difficult to hide your real emotions. In any case, they are more than willing to discuss your feelings with you and if you make an honest effort to let them know what is bothering you, they will talk it out. Alternatively, if you need someone to bring people currently at odds with each other together, number 2 is one of the most diplomatic and tactful numbers because they are able to see both sides of the issue.
If you were born on the 11th, although you have access to the traits of the 2, there is an elevated energy resulting in 11 being termed a master number. Number 11 takes the intuition of the 2 but amps it up, resulting in an uncanny ability to sense the emotions and motivations of those around them. Not only do they sense it, they may even feel the emotions of others even when their external circumstances are radically different. Thus, they have the gift of empathy and can connect on a deeper level with those in need. Number 11 can be spiritual, reading books by inspiring people of faith, meditating, going to seminars, and seeking to deepen their connection with God. Number 11 people are often inspirational to others by word and example, they motivate people to look within themselves and answer their soul’s true calling.
Birthday (3rd, 12th, 21st, 30th)
If your birthday is a number 3 you are an entertainer. Joyful, humorous, and upbeat, you like to laugh and have fun. You may enjoy comedy or satire and choose your words carefully to achieve your desired effect. There is a tendency to be somewhat carefree and trust that you will be taken care of and things will work out for the best. Because Jupiter which is the symbolic planet of fortune and blessings vibrates with 3, this comes true often! You derive joy from the visual and performing arts, music, dancing; any activity that allows you to express your creative side.
Besides your sense of humour, your spiritual, religious or philosophical side is highly developed. You likely spend a lot of time reading, meditating or doing other practices that deepen your sense of connection with your Higher source. The questions of existence piqued your interest for the greater part of your adult life and possibly even when you were a teenager.
Writing and publishing your work is a fruitful avenue for you to go deeper within yourself and to share your insights. Journaling is a way for you to achieve catharsis.
Birthday (4th, 13th, 22nd, 31st)
Number 4 people are the salt of the earth and pillars of their community. They are generally hardworking, responsible, and upstanding citizens who get the job done in an efficient way. They have both their feet firmly planted on the ground and can be counted on to give sensible advice. These people are very good at dealing with the duties of mundane life and where other people may not feel like fulfilling domestic obligations, number 4 people feel that it is up to them to see that the household runs smoothly. They are highly disciplined and will do things out of their sense of duty.
Because these people can be realistic, they tend to see only what is rather than what could be. For this reason, they benefit from spending time with inspirational individuals who can show them how to ignite their inner flame and pursue their passions. Number 4 people may not necessarily be big risk takers. They feel that too many others are depending on them for anything to go wrong. While this can give those around them a sense of security, it doesn’t always help number 4 people reach their highest potential. Number 4’s can be afraid of failing and play it safe to avoid doing so. The trouble with that policy though is that without big risks, there can be no big rewards. Often our greatest learning comes from our mistakes, only through these experiences can we see what needs to be changed to do better next time. If number 4 can know within themselves that they are always protected and loved, they can feel safe in taking little risks and making mistakes that may end up in adding more joy into their life.
If you were born on the 22nd, although you have access to the traits of the 4, there is a Master builder energy to the 22, this is why number 22 is considered a master number. This takes the practicality of the 4 but combines it with visionary, future oriented ideas. It results in building something of lasting significance, either in terms of a bricks and mortar building/ company and/or in ideas that influence many generations to come. Sometimes their ideas are so revolutionary that they are too far ahead of their time and get labelled as eccentric or “crazy”. It may be that others have not opened their eyes to the possibility and reject it out of a sense of fear. It could be many years after they die that the world catches up with their vision.
Birthday (5th, 14th, 23rd)
Number 5 people are communicators! They are witty, humorous, and have the gift of the gab. They usually know a little about a lot of things and can hold a conversation with almost anyone. It seems to others that they instinctively know just the right combination of words to use to persuade people of their position. Especially if they feel passionately about a topic or cause, they are well able to present a compelling perspective to make people understand their point of view.
Number 5’s life revolves around learning, education and adventure. They constantly seek to fill their minds with new subjects that interest them. They believe that their education does not end in school and that life is a giant classroom in which they never stop learning. Although 5s are not defined as a group by their interest in a single genre, the common thread is that they love to read because their imagination takes full reign and they are transported into a different place and time.
Number 5 loves travel, and if given a chance would take off for their next adventure. They love interacting with foreign people, visiting their cultures, and learning more about their lifestyle. They often live in two or more countries at some point in their life and may even call multiple countries home.
Birthday (6th, 15th, 24th)
Your birthday on day 6 may make your life theme one of service to others, appreciation of beauty, and/or entrepreneurship. You have a highly developed aesthetic sense, intuitively understanding how to present things to be their best. Your friends may admire your sense of style as reflected in your dress, home, work, and parties. You seek to ensure your guests have a pleasurable experience, often going out of your way to ensure that they do.
There is an innate magnetism and charm to the 6, partly because Venus, the planet of love vibrates to it. People are drawn to you and sometimes reveal things that they wouldn’t tell anyone else. You are also quite romantic and appreciate the traditional courtship in the initial stages of a relationship. Even after you have been married several years, your partner must understand that you will always be a romantic at heart. Romance should be kept alive with the mutual effort of both partners.
A major part of your calling revolves around service to others. You are naturally compassionate, caring, and enthusiastic as you seek to make a positive difference in people’s lives. Even if your career doesn’t allow you to feel productive in this way, you need to find an outlet to express this nurturing side in you or you may feel that there is something missing.
Number 6 is skilled at opening new businesses and leading them. Your employees understand that you are genuinely seeking to improve their quality of life and fulfill their career goals. At the same time you make them understand why their gifts are being maximized in their roles. Your vibrancy and optimism coupled with determination and persistence set an example to those you lead.
Birthday (7th, 16th, 25th)
Number 7 people are thinkers and dreamers with a rich inner life. Their fertile imagination creates possibilities that inspire us all. Because they are abstract people, they enjoy discussions that take a look at the future; potentials that have not yet been realized. They are natural authors as their preference for solitude and proclivity to express their thoughts is fulfilled this way.
Number 7 loves to get lost in movies which transport them into different people’s lives and may be found writing scripts or otherwise involved in the filmmaking process. They have the ability to capture the human condition and develop characters which compel the reader to understand their point of view and be engaged in the outcome of their life.
Although they thrive on discussions where they are fascinated by a subject, these are not people known for idle chatter. They may seem aloof because they don’t participate as much if they are not fully engaged in what is being discussed. However, if you get them talking on a subject of interest, they show how articulate and knowledgeable they are. They would choose a good book over a good party most of the time as they get exposed to ideas that expand their horizons. They prefer intimate discussions over large gatherings and are selective about whom they let into their inner circle, believing in quality and not quantity of friends. These people are intellectual and like studying subjects in depth; their concentration is excellent once they set out to learn something they have a passion for.
Number 7 people usually seek to help those less fortunate, a trait that comes from its vibration with the planet Neptune. Part of their rooting for the underdog may stem from the fact that they were in this position before and someone chose to believe in them and motivate them to succeed. Thus they feel good about repaying the favour.
Birthday (8th, 17th, 26th)
One of number 8’s most admired qualities is their ability to bounce back from adversity. Life tends to knock them down a lot, especially when younger. However 8 has the ability to rise up like the phoenix from the ashes and come back stronger than before. They have been taught that there is no such thing as a free lunch, so they are able to work hard, focus on a goal, and persist until they achieve it.
Regardless of the conditions they were born into, the parents they had, their upbringing or any other external feature, the 8 has an eye to reach the top in status, power and wealth. They are keenly aware of their place in society’s hierarchy and are motivated to improve their material circumstances. They need people to respect them, if they are not looked up to in this way, they may start to feel dissatisfied.
Number 8’s are excellent providers; they want their family to have the best that money can buy and will ensure that their kids have all the advantages that they may have never had. They do have to watch for a tendency to force their children to live out their unrealized dreams or to have unrealistic standards for them. Although, they have the best of intentions to motivate their children, their children may perceive that they constantly have to keep achieving to earn their dad or mom’s love. A good way to balance this is to spend plenty of quality time with your family, this is what they really crave and this is what they will remember of you when you are gone.
Birthday (9th, 18th, 27th)
Number 9 people are blessed with vitality, vigour, and enthusiasm. Their warrior nature is ignited by social injustice and the plight of the disadvantaged, and they can advocate for their chosen cause with dogged determination and passion. In fact their warrior nature is active in all areas of their life, once they settle on a cherished goal, they pursue it intently until it is achieved.
They have an unbridled energy to explore the world, to learn about different cultures, to indulge the five senses and to pack as much action into their lives as possible. Due to the number 9 vibration with Mars, they possess courage and daring; when presented with a challenge they will rise to meet it. They want to live life to its fullest and make new discoveries that infuse them with a sense of wonder. They enjoy being around people whose energy levels match their own and are up for spontaneous adventure. Because they are young at heart, they are able to reach out to those who are younger and teach them from their experiences.
In their personal life, they have a tendency to surprise people with their alternating hot and cold responses. For example, sometimes they can take criticism well and thank the other person for bringing it to their attention. Other times they can react harshly to a well-meaning individual who gave them genuine constructive criticism. Sometimes people just don’t know what to expect from them. Their anger can easily be aroused but usually they explode and forget about it. On the other hand, there are some things that number 9’s have a very hard time letting go of and this is why forgiveness becomes a major issue for them to master in their adult years.
