Spring 2025 Eclipse Season

             March 2025 certainly is a packed month; with two eclipses, saturn and uranus changing signs (vedic), mercury and venus retrograde, and a rare alignment of moon, sun, venus, mercury, saturn, rahu and neptune all in pisces (vedic) on March 29th-30th. 

          The first eclipse was on March 14th, it was a lunar eclipse at 23 degrees 57 minutes virgo. Uranus switched into taurus on March 18th (vedic). The second eclipse on March 29th is a solar eclipse at 9 degrees 0 minutes aries. These degrees are the western system degrees, and you would subtract roughly about 23-24 degrees to get the vedic eclipses which are 14 degrees pisces on March 29th and 29 degrees leo on March 14th. The March 29th eclipse has a major influence of saturn switching into pisces (in the vedic system) on the same day. Eclipses are felt most strongly if making a conjunction, square or opposition to a natal planet or angle in the natal chart. This means that if you have a planet or angle around 19 to 29 degrees of the mutable signs or 4 to 14 degrees of the cardinal signs, you will notice the effects more. The closer you are to the exact degree of the eclipse the more you tend to be affected. For example my north node is at 8 degrees 48 minutes aries, and I noticed that the day I finalized my month long trip to France, mercury and venus were exactly conjunct 8 degrees aries triggering that eclipse that will occur in my 9th house of foreign travel. I had not even noticed this until after the flight had been booked! Eclipses can affect composite and davison charts as well, particularly if they make a close aspect to a planet or angle. 

           Planets speak the loudest when they enter or leave a house, which tend to coincide with major events. Notice which house saturn will leave (the house of aquarius in your vedic chart) and which house it will enter (the house of pisces in your vedic chart). Uranus switches from aries to taurus on March 18th, so you can also note which house uranus will leave (the house of aries in your vedic chart) and which house it will enter (the house of taurus in your vedic chart). Charts can be studied from the lagna, chandra (moon) lagna and surya (sun) lagna. You may notice effects in both the house the planet is leaving and the house it is entering. Saturn is a malefic planet and does bring heavier karmic influences which can be felt as challenging and upsetting. The role is a disciplinarian and teacher, saturn gives us the tougher life lessons. At the same time, you can be assisted by other planetary transits to soften the influence.

        Given that jupiter is currently in taurus, jupiter aspects scorpio, virgo and capricorn. From pisces, saturn will aspect virgo, taurus, and sagittarius. Saturn casts a special forward sextile and a backward square, in addition to its opposition. Jupiter casts a trinal aspect in addition to its opposition. This means that the houses of taurus and virgo are under the 'double transit' effect and the areas of life they represent will take on prominence until the date jupiter leaves taurus which is on May 14th 2025. After this jupiter will aspect sagittarius, libra and aquarius until June 1st 2026. During this time, the house of sagittarius will gain most prominence in your vedic chart via the double transit effect. Let's say sagittarius is your 5th house, then topics such as children, creative efforts, self-expression, leisure and hobbies, finding joy and purpose, the intellect and mind, past life credits and debts, mantras and meditation can come up. Not everything governed by the house will come up for you, but at least a few of these topics are certain to come to the forefront. 

         The fact that mercury and venus are retrograde this month suggest that if you can wait to sign contracts or make major life transitions during this time, you should. Mercury retrograde is March 15th-April 7th and venus retrograde is March 1st to April 12th. Retrogrades have the effect of things within this time period being temporary or having to go back and re-do something because it wasn't understood correctly the first time. Communications need to be checked more than usual. There are things that are glossed over or assumed, which can be costly and/or painful in the future. Venus retrogrades are notorious for not being able to permanently leave a romantic relationship. You may find the person coming back into your life after a while in some capacity, maybe even a reconciliation. You can plan things in a tentative way but I wouldn't advise buying anything that is not refundable during retrogrades; chances are you may change your mind.  Hiring someone for a service is also not a good idea if you can't change your mind later either. Retrogrades tend towards internalizing the nature of the planet, so during a venus retrograde we may focus more on the psychological aspects of our marriage/ relationship or one's own self esteem, values, physical appearance, beauty, material wealth etc.  There is a tendency to be more self critical than usual, as faults become more noticeable and this is where it may be helpful to be intentional with self-compassion as an antidote.

         This weekend is a time to deeply relax, spiritually recharge and focus on your inner life. We have saturn switching signs into pisces, the eclipse in pisces (vedic eclipse sign), and alignment of six planets in pisces (vedic system). If possible, take the day for self-reflection, journaling, deep breathing, prayer, meditation, visualization, clean eating and plenty of rest, avoiding distractions such as television, work, social media and other entertainment. The spiritual energies of this day should not be wasted directing energy into the outer world and on to other people. Pay attention to what your heart and intuition are telling you, observe the repetitive nature of the mind and inquire with curiosity and compassion what is happening with your body, mind and spirit. Be mindful of any tendency to repress or ignore emotion. Instead, notice and name the emotion you are feeling, where is it in the body, what intensity is it? Breathe through any tension, and then move on once you have made the emotion felt in a conscious way. The house in which this alignment occurs will get a lot of attention (the house of pisces in your vedic chart) so it's important to be cognizant of the direction of your thoughts and behaviour in this area, trying to stay positive and hopeful as much as you can. Pisces is the 12th sign of the zodiac, and is a mystical sign symbolic of creativity, intuition, wisdom through the third eye chakra, merging with the divine, gaining knowledge through non-linear means, and accessing guidance from a realm beyond this one. If you are so inclined, you may want to get in touch with your guardian angels and spirit guides.  Ask a question and then tune in for their answer in whatever way you feel is best. Remember that they can only help you if you ask, that is a spiritual law of the universe. Get really clear on what you want, and then surrender your intention and vision for assistance from the divine intelligence of the universe. 

              If March has been hectic for you, you are certainly not alone. With so much happening in the sky, it's not surprising that the world has changed rapidly and unexpectedly this month. Global partnerships and alliances are quickly changing and there is so much uncertainty and anxiety as to what may come next. We can only really focus on what is under our control, and managing our reactions to the vast majority of things that are not. Understanding the heavenly influences are one way to keep things in proper perspective and gain insight into the timing of these energies that impact us one way or the other.
